Doug Murray was born and raised in Thunder Bay. After completing a Chemical Engineering degree from

the University of Waterloo, Doug has worked in the pulp and paper industry in Northern Ontario and

British Columbia in progressively more senior management roles for over 30 years, including 11 plus

years as a General Manager. Doug is presently the CEO of the Thunder Bay Economic Development

Commission. Doug has been involved in many service clubs and the Chamber of Commerce, including

four years on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. He presently sits on the

founding Board of the Northern Policy Institute and the CRIBE Board (Centre for Research & Innovation

in the Bio-economy)
