DEVELOPING BIOMASS POWER GENERATION IN REMOTE AREAS

This funding is to assist in the development of the Bio-Energy Learning and Research Centre which will contain a fuel testing lab, demonstration space and a separate 150 KW boiler dedicated to research and learning with associated emissions monitoring equipment.

The impact projects of this kind could have on remote First Nations, mostly off the- grid and dependant on costly diesel generators, is significant. Some First Nations communities are already moving forward with plans for small scale biomass power generation and now they will be able to receive the training they need much closer to home.
